Journals

Recording Journal
Accounts of my recording sessions dating back a few years. I will update my Recording Journal every time I record new material or have a relevant update to Sound Library. This is a good place to go if you want to see some of the issues that occur on location and some of the ways of dealing with these issues. (or at least how I deal with them)
Reviews
What do you need to write a review? Access to the relevant equipment and an opinion. Well I certainly have access to various equipment, and I always have an opinion. I plan on writing my reviews in two stages, the initial stage will be a first impression writeup and will include an overview of the equipment and how it copes with some basic fundamental use. I will then write up a second stage about a month later when I can assess more fully exactly how well the equipment has served its designed purpose and what if any issues I have discovered, having had time to more thoroughly put it through its paces.

Most of the initial reviews will probably seem overly positive of the equipment. That is because I am starting the review section with the gear I already own. This means I have gone to a lot of trouble to research carefully my purchases to ensure I get exactly what I need for the purpose intended. If I review any of these badly it means I didn't do my homework properly. As the reviews expand to include material sent to me by manufacturers I hope I can continue to be positive, good quality gear is good for the industry and those of us that use it.

If you have something you want reviewed, then contact me through the site and we can organize something.
Equipment
There are numerous ways to set up equipment when recording either in a studio or out on location, how you set up your gear is as important as choosing the right microphone and knowing how to edit your sounds afterward. Personally I find that how I setup my gear is a constantly changing part of the job. Experience counts for a lot and often you won't know if something is going to work until you've tried it. New gear will often need new solutions, and recording material you have never encountered before will almost always challenge your current approaches to setting up for a recording session.

I don't believe there are any perfect solutions that work for every situation, I try to approach any session with an open mind and see if I can learn something from it. These are some of the solutions I have used and how I found working with them.
Articles
Every now and then I will put my thoughts into words. These articles will cover a range of topics but usually be relevant to audio production, the game industry or relevant areas of film television or music production.
